Why Choose a Ferret

Ferrets make good pets because;

They don't bark

They don't jump on kitchen work surfaces like a cat.

They are really easy to litter train

They are small

Ferrets smell no worse than cats or dogs once neutered. ( would you let an un-neutered Tom cat live with you.

Ferrets sleep for long periods of time( up to 18 hrs) so if you are out at work all day, they will curl up and sleep until you get home and they can give you their full attention. You will also be required to give them yours!

Polie loves to hide inside smelly wellies.

Ferrets enjoy going for walks, well an amble really, sniffing everything along the way.

Don't eat much.

Ferrets are very sociable creatures. They are affectionate but not fawning. They love to be played with and cuddled when they feel like it ( males especially enjoy a cuddle)

Ferrets are very entertaining.

They are highly intelligent. Obviously not talking mensa here but as clever as your dog or cat. If you want to train a ferret bribery is very important.

Very good natured

Bathing is not necessary. If your ferret gets filthy on a walk by all means wash it. But a weekly bath as some people advocate will overstimulate its sebaceous glands and it will get smelly. I never bath mine unless filthy and they have rich fluffy coats in winter and smooth glossy sleek coats in summer. I do brush them regularly which they enjoy and if we are visiting I give them a quick puff of ferret deodorizing spray which also conditions their coats.

Ferrets travel very well.
